With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world's leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Together, our fully integrated research and clinical care teams seek to discover new cures to the world's deadliest diseases and make life beyond cancer a reality.

At Fred Hutch we value collaboration, compassion, determination, excellence, innovation, integrity and respect. Please include a cover letter detailing your research accomplishments, go forward interests, and suitability for this position with your application. At least two letters of recommendation will be requested as part of the screening process.

Responsibilities

The applicant will apply state of the art functional genomic and high throughput screening approaches to identify genes required for cancer cell survival and sensitizers to current cancer therapeutics. Through bioinformatic curation, functional cellular assays, and animal models, the applicant will prioritize and validate these as candidate drug targets. We currently have identified a number of high value targets that are in stages of validation in patient derived tumor organoids. The ideal candidate will have a formal background in cancer biology and genetics, with expertise in cell culture, including tumor organoids, molecular biology, genetic analysis, and the use of animal models. The applicant will be expected to interact with an interdisciplinary local team (computational scientists, clinicians, cancer biologists) and with the national CTD2 network.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, genetics, or related discipline.
  • Experience in standard molecular biology techniques, including qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, shRNA and CRISPR vector design and construction.

  • Experience with drug development would be a plus.
  • Demonstrated track record of productive, independent research.
