Overview The Managing Editor, Publications (MEP) is responsible for overseeing editorial operations and quality of ACOG publications, including books, a website, and other products. The Publications unit serves an important part of the ACOG mission as the organization expands its presence in professional education, consumer health, and patient education. The Managing Editor, Publications will be at the center of this important work. NOTE: This position does not include working on ACOG's market-leading Green Journal, which is handled by a separate team. Some of the products in the Publications portfolio include the award-winning and widely popular book, Your Pregnancy and Childbirth: Month to Month, the highly respected six-volume series of self-directed study manuals, PROLOG, which also afford CME credit, and the award-winning ACOG for Patients website. The Managing Editor reports to the Director of Editorial Development, and the role requires hybrid attendance (2 days per week) in ACOG's Washington, DC office. Cover Letter Required Responsibilities The Managing Editor, Publications will: * Establish and manage daily editorial operations of product development, including ensuring editorial team adherence to evolving editorial policies and procedures; developing and routinely reviewing editorial schedules; planning for new volumes, content types, and products; assessing translation strategies for a website; and meeting weekly with direct reports to provide feedback, coaching, support, and workflow evaluation. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or related field required. Master's degree or certification in medical writing and editing preferred.
