Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $15.00 - Midpoint: $17.26 (Hourly N1)

Department/Organization: 208121 - Rural Programs

Normal Work Schedule: Based on needs of camp/program, to include some evenings and weekends as needed.

Job Summary: The Tutor provides assistance in subjects as needed.

Additional Department Summary: Serves as class facilitator for required non-credit course for the participants of the Rural Minority Health Scholars Program. This course will meet daily during Summer 1 term, and covers a variety of topics: Health Disparities, Study Skills, Career Choices, etc. Tutors program participants as needed. Conducts mandatory study hall sessions for students whose grade is below a B average. Assists with coordination of collaborative activities for program participants, including fieldtrips and shadowing opportunities in where students are invited to observe the activities of a health care facility.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree and expertise in subject to be tutored; OR a native speaker in foreign language.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to lead, organize, and coordinate class development. Knowledge of tutoring, student development, and learning theories. Strong multi-tasking and program management skills. Interpersonal communication and relationship building skills. Use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs).

Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching and/or tutoring experience preferred. Knowledge/experience or past participant of the Rural Scholars Program preferred.
