Department: Visitor Experience
Job Title/Classification: Illumination Specialists (Festival of Lights - Hanging Team)
Reports to: Public Events Operations Coordinator
Pay: $16.00
Position Summary:
The PNC Festival of Lights began 42 years ago to attract, educate and INSPIRE visitors through the holiday season. The first displays were simple luminaries around Swan Lake and displays of seasonal lighting around the Zoo. Every year since then, the Zoo has tried to outdo the previous display and is constantly adding new elements. In 2023, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden displayed more than 4 million lights and was voted USA Today's Best Zoo Lights for the 6th year in a row! Festival of Lights has consistently been one of the busiest parts of the year, bringing in hundreds of thousands of guests and remains a Cincinnati mainstay in the winter months.
The Zoo is now hiring for the light hanging crew to continue this Cincinnati tradition. This position is a part-time seasonal role. The bulk of this work will be carried out evenings and weekends from August through March. Depending on performance and openings, members of this team will be given preferred consideration for operational roles during Festival of Lights when set up concludes, though pay rates and hours may change depending on the role. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong communication skills, work well independently, and have an eye for detail.
